The World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) plans to open an education center at the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, head of the OIE Office for Eastern Europe Kazimieras Lukauskas, BelTA has learned.
"We will continue to work closely with Belarus. In Vitebsk we are planning to open a twinning center with a veterinary school in Europe. This center will be engaged in training and improvement of professional skills of all veterinarians in Europe and maybe the world," said Kazimieras Lukauskas.
According to the OIE specialist, the center's faculty will include Belarusian specialists and also OIE representatives from across Europe. It wil be attended by students, professors, and inspectors - representatives of the entire veterinary system.
"The second area of work is the organization of a joint project with the Belarusian State Veterinary Center. We want to take advantage of the very good potential of Belarusian laboratories," he said.
All in all there are 636 different OIE centers in 180 countries where the organization operates. The OIE is an intergovernmental organization responsible for animal health.
