For their military feats during the war years, residents of the district F.G. Markov and A.I. Maslovskaya were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

In the Postavy region, in the village of Korolinovo (currently the territory of the Komai rural council), the world-renowned artist Alfred Romer lived and worked.

The Postavy region also became the homeland for People's Artist of Russia Lydia Abramova.

Born on January 1, 1957, in Postavy, Vitebsk region, Belarusian SSR. Graduated from Minsk Suvorov Military School in 1974. In 1979, he graduated from Chernihiv Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots. After graduation, he served in the Pacific Fleet aviation on the ships "Minsk" and "Novorossiysk". Participated in two combat deployments. In 1985, he graduated from the Fighter Pilot Training Center.

He conducted tests of aircraft and helicopters of the fleet's aviation. He was one of the first to master the Yak-38 vertical take-off and landing aircraft. He took an active part in testing the ship-based aircraft Su-25U, TG, Su-27K. On August 28, 1990, he was the first test pilot to perform an independent landing of the Su-27K (Su-33) aircraft on a ship.

He rose from an ordinary pilot to a test pilot, and from 1992, from a senior test pilot to the head of the State Flight Test Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

He was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation by Presidential Decree on August 15, 1995, for his courage and high professionalism during the landing of an expensive experimental aircraft on the deck of an aircraft-carrying cruiser in difficult meteorological conditions with the failure of the optical system on the cruiser, without which deck landing is not performed.

From 1990 until the completion of the flight test phase in September 1994, he made 78 landings on the aircraft carrier's deck, more than 50 of which were under life-threatening conditions.

In 2002, he was awarded the title of Honored Test Pilot.

Tragically died in a car accident in August 2008.

Born on December 24, 1913, in the village of Kachanishki, Postavy District.

Participant in the revolutionary movement in Western Belarus; from 1936 to 1939, he was held in a concentration camp, and then in a Vilnius prison.

From 1939 to 1941, he was elected chairman of the Sventiany City Council, deputy chairman of the Vileika Regional Executive Committee.

From the first days of the Great Patriotic War, Fyodor Grigoryevich fought as part of the active army. In September 1941, by decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Belarus, he was recalled to work behind enemy lines. He began his combat partisan path as commander of a special group of a partisan detachment. In May 1942, he was appointed commander of the Suvorov partisan detachment, and in November 1942, he led the Voroshilov partisan brigade, while simultaneously serving as head of the military-operational department of the Vileika underground regional committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Belarus from April 1942.

For his combat merits and heroism displayed in battles against the Nazi invaders, F.G. Markov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on January 1, 1944.

From 1944, F.G. Markov served as deputy chairman of the Vileika and Molodechno Regional Executive Committees.

He was repeatedly elected as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR.

He died on January 14, 1958. Streets in Postavy, Vileika, and the urban settlement of Lyntupy are named after him.

Born on January 6, 1920, in the village of Kursevichi, Postavy District.

Before the war, she worked as a senior pioneer leader at Lyntupy school in Postavy District. In June 1941, she voluntarily joined the Red Army. She was surrounded and established contact with partisans. In 1942, on assignment from the underground party organization, she took a job in a sewing workshop in Postavy that served SS officers, for reconnaissance purposes. With her help, the underground members eliminated a Nazi general. From May 1943, she was deputy commissar for Komsomol work of the Parkhomenko partisan detachment of the Voroshilov partisan brigade. From December 24, 1942, to July 4, 1944, Anna Yakovlevna was a member of the Postavy underground district committee of the LKSMB.

She participated in the defeat of fascist garrisons in Zalesye, Lyntupy, Komai, and in undermining enemy echelons and railway tracks.

She was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in 1944 for her courage and heroism shown in fulfilling important assignments behind enemy lines during the Great Patriotic War.

After the war, she became the foster mother of 15 orphans whose parents had died at the hands of the fascists.

She died on November 11, 1980.

Born on July 17, 1946, in the village of Starchuny, Postavy District.

He began his career in 1960 as a tractor driver at the Dzerzhinsky collective farm.

At the age of 22, he became chairman of the Suvorov collective farm in Postavy District (currently SPK "Novoselki-Luchai"). As the youngest leader, he managed to transform a lagging collective farm into a promising, prosperous enterprise, which he has continuously headed for over 40 years.

Adolf Adolfovich is the initiator of the application of the latest technologies in agricultural production; he is characterized by a constant search for new things, the ability to see the prospects for further development.

Adolf Adolfovich's labor and public activities have been marked by many well-deserved high state awards: Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1971), Order of Lenin (1973), Order of the October Revolution (1981), Order of Friendship of Peoples.

In 1981, he was awarded the title "Honored Worker of Agriculture of the BSSR".

The honorary title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal "Hammer and Sickle" was awarded in 1988.

Adolf Adolfovich was repeatedly elected as a deputy of the district and regional Council of Deputies, and the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

Born on January 31, 1916, in the village of Lipniki, Postavy District.

Before the war, he worked in the Vileyka Regional Department of the NKVD. During the Great Patriotic War, he was the deputy commander for intelligence of the Suvorov detachment. Commander of the "Slava" detachment of the Voroshilov brigade, and simultaneously from April 1942 to July 1944, secretary of the Postavy underground Komsomol district committee.

The honorary title of Hero of Socialist Labor was awarded in 1966 for his success in the development of agricultural production, while working as the first secretary of the Glubokoye District Committee of the CPB.

Awarded the Orders of Lenin, Red Banner, and Patriotic War 1st degree.

From 1964, he worked as the first secretary of the Glubokoye District Committee of the CPB, and from 1967-1976, as the chairman of the party commission under the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the CPB. Member of the Central Committee of the CPB from 1966-1971, deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR from 1947-1951, 1963-1967.

Died on June 13, 1977.

Born in 1949 in Postavy, graduated from school with a silver medal. Received higher education at the Belarusian Technological Institute. In 1976, he defended his Ph.D. thesis. At the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute (now BNTU), he first became an associate professor, and then headed the Department of "Construction and Road Machines". In 1991, he defended his doctoral thesis in Moscow, and a year later received the title of professor.

Since 1996, he was appointed to the position of Vice-Rector of the Belarusian State Polytechnic Academy. Since 2001, he has headed the scientific association for the creation of technological machines. He is a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, Academician of the Lifting and Transport Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Anton Uladzimiravich is engaged in developing scientific foundations for creating competitive, energy- and resource-saving construction equipment and forecasting its future development, developing a methodology for designing multifunctional machines, a systemic approach to forming their complexes; methods for selecting effective mechanization options for promising technologies, requirements for machine complexes that ensure a world-class implementation of technological processes; methods for economic design of machines and technological complexes. He is the author of 9 monographs, 13 books, and about 500 scientific papers. He is the Chairman of the Council for the Defense of Doctoral Dissertations and worked as an expert for the Higher Attestation Commission of Belarus.

In 2003, the American Biographical Institute awarded Vavilov A.U. the title of "Man of the Year". In 2004-2006, the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge awarded him the title of "Outstanding Educator and Intellectual of the 21st Century".

Born on September 5, 1950, in the village of Mumishki, Postavy District. He studied at the Karalinava eight-year school, then at the Maladzyechna Medical College. In 1978, he graduated with honors from the medical faculty of the Minsk Medical Institute. He worked as a clinical resident, a radiologist in the radiological department of the Research Institute of Oncology and Medical Radiology of the Ministry of Health of the BSSR (1978-1982). After postgraduate studies, he worked in the laboratory of hyperthermia and clinical therapy, the department of rehabilitation and brachytherapy, and the department of general oncology and plastic surgery of the Research Institute of Oncology and Medical Radiology.

In 1986, he defended his Ph.D. thesis, and in 1994, his doctoral thesis. In 2000, he was awarded the title of professor. In the same year, he was appointed director of the State Institution "N.N. Aleksandrov National Research Institute of Oncology and Medical Radiology". From 1999 to 2007, he was the head of the Department of Oncology at the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. In 2004, Iosif Zalutski was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. From 2001 to 2009, he coordinated the work of the oncological service of the republic. From January 15, 2010, he worked as Deputy Academic Secretary of the Department of Medical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. From December 26, 2010, he was appointed director of the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Physiology" of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

I.V. Zalutski is an outstanding surgeon, a doctor of the highest qualification category, and a great scientist in the field of oncology. The main directions of his scientific activity are the development and implementation into clinical practice of new methods of treatment and rehabilitation of cancer patients. He is known in countries near and far abroad as an oncologist and plastic surgeon, a highly qualified specialist in the field of oncology of the musculoskeletal system, head, neck, and reconstructive surgery.

Under the guidance of I.V. Zalutski, 15 Ph.D. and 4 doctoral dissertations have been defended. He is the author of more than 300 scientific and scientific-methodological works, 7 monographs, and has 17 patents.

Professor I.V. Zalutski is a member of the board of the International Association of Plastic Surgeons and Oncologists, a member of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology, and a full member of the Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons of Russia. He is a member of the editorial board of the scientific journals "Healthcare", "Medical News", "Ukrainian Radiological Journal", editor-in-chief of the annual collections of scientific papers "Actual Problems of Oncology and Medical Radiology", and editor of the annual collection "Malignant Neoplasms in Belarus".

Iosif Viktaravich Zalutski is an outstanding scientist and physician, a man whose heart is open to his native land and to people who find themselves in difficult, sometimes critical, situations. Iosif Viktaravich's scientific experience and skill give them great hope for recovery.

Born on March 26, 1949, in the village of Kharki, Pastavy District. Studied at Varapayeva Secondary School and Dobrush GPTU for electricians. In 1977, he graduated from the Vitebsk Veterinary Institute. After graduation, he worked in Petrykaŭ District, Homiel Region, at the "Navasiolki" state farm as chief zootechnician, then as director of the "Myshenka" state farm. From 1980 to 1984, he studied at the correspondence postgraduate program at the Belarusian Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and defended his Ph.D. thesis in 1984. From 1987, he worked as an associate professor and dean of the zootechnical faculty of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy. In 1999, he received the degree of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences. From 2000, he worked as the Head of the Department of Education, Science, and Personnel of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. From 2003, he was the Rector of the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University.

At the European Forum on Agrarian Education, the work of Rector Kazaravets M.U. and his scientific and pedagogical team received the highest評価, and soon thereafter, Oxford University recognized the Rector's activities with a gilded Socrates statuette "For significant contribution to the development of society." Since 2004, Mikalai Uladzimiravich Kazaravets has been a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. He is the author of more than 500 scientific works, including 13 monographs, 47 textbooks and reference books, and 11 patents. He personally supervised the dissertation works of his students, three of whom have already received Ph.D. degrees. Kazaravets M.U. is an outstanding scientist in the field of agricultural animal husbandry, a teacher with many years of experience, and an organizer of zootechnical science in our country.

Born on October 5, 1946, in the village of Mozheyki, Postavy District. After school, he graduated from Gorodok College of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture. He worked as a mechanical engineer at the Michurin collective farm in Postavy District. In 1971, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Agricultural Production Engineers named after V.P. Gorachkin, then completed postgraduate studies. In 1975, he defended his Ph.D. thesis there and remained to work as a senior lecturer and associate professor. In 1982, he returned to Belarus and took a position as an associate professor at BIMSG. There, he headed the Department of "Theory of Mechanics and Mechanisms," and then the Department of "Hydraulics and Hydraulic Machines." In 1990, he defended his doctoral thesis. Thanks to his scientific and practical activities, new potato harvesting combines (KPK-2(3)-01) and other efficient agricultural machines were put into serial production.

In 1997, he moved to the position of Head of the Main Department of Education and Personnel of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. In 2000, he headed the Main Department of Science, Education, Personnel, and Product Certification of the "Belgospiщеprom" concern. In 2001, Zenon Valyantsinavich established and headed the Belarusian Research and Design Institute of Food Products. From 2006, the institute became the main one in the NASB Scientific and Practical Center for Food, and Zenon Valyantsinavich was appointed General Director.

During his scientific and pedagogical activities, Zenon Valyantsinavich managed to train 28 candidates of sciences and 2 doctors of sciences, write 23 books and textbooks, and publish over 530 scientific works. He received 108 patents and author's certificates for inventions, many of which have been implemented in technologies and machines of the national economy. On April 20, 2009, he was elected a corresponding member of the NAS of Belarus in the specialty "Food Production Technology." In 2013, he was awarded the honorary title "Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus," and received a number of diplomas and medals.

Born on June 1, 1943, in Glubokoe. In 1948, his family moved to the urban settlement of Voropaevo. After graduating from Voropaevo school in 1959, Maisyonak A.G. entered Grodno Medical Institute. In 1965, he entered postgraduate studies in biochemistry there and worked as an assistant at the Department of Hospital Therapy. In 1970, he defended his Ph.D. thesis, after which he moved to the position of scientific secretary and then head of the laboratory in the Department of Metabolism Regulation of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR in Grodno (from 1985 - Institute of Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR). In 1992-1996, he worked as Deputy Director, and in 1996-1998 - Acting Director of the Institute of Biochemistry of the NAS of Belarus. Since 2011, he has been working at RUE "Scientific and Practical Center of the NAS of Belarus for Food." Here, his experience and extensive knowledge in the field of vitaminology and nutritiology are fully in demand. He taught nutrition physiology at Y. Kupala Grodno State University. Since 2016, he has headed the Department of Vitaminology and Nutraceuticals of the State Enterprise "Institute of Biochemistry of Biologically Active Compounds of the NAS of Belarus" (Grodno). As a member of the NAS of Belarus, he collaborates with the Department of Medical Sciences.

He defended his doctoral dissertation in 1996. In 1997, he received the title of professor. In 2000, he was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. He authored over 450 scientific works, including 7 monographs. A number of developments by Professor A.G. Maisiaionak received global priority, as evidenced by 20 author's certificates for inventions and patents. Under his supervision, 3 doctoral and 18 candidate dissertations were defended. Founder and editor of the periodical "Nutrition and Metabolism" (2002-2016). Reports by Corresponding Member A.G. Maisiaionak at international forums are highly successful.

His name is included in the biographical world editions "Who's Who in European Research and Development?" and "Who's Who Contemporaries?". He was awarded the Polkul-Foundation Prize (2002) and the Boris Kit – Preis (2003). For over 10 years, he headed the Grodno Local Lore Association. He was elected to the board of the Belarusian Culture Foundation. He actively cooperates with local historians of Grodno, Glubokoe, Braslav, and Postavy, and is the author of numerous articles on the history of science, medicine, and local lore.
