Excursion to Postavy District Department of Emergency Situations
How can one get to know the work of a rescuer better? Through an excursion, of course! As part of the "Unified Safety Day" campaign, the Postavy District Department of Emergency Situations also opened its doors. This time, students from Secondary School No. 4 in Postavy visited Fire and Rescue Unit No. 1.
Upon arriving at the unit, the children saw the daily life of rescuers, what activities are carried out by people who can come to the rescue at any moment. They were able to visit the garage and see rescue equipment firsthand, try on the heavy gear of a firefighter, and understand how heavy the air can be. Also, everyone interested could try to spray water from a hose at a simulated fire. After getting a dose of adrenaline and positive emotions, the children could observe what was happening directly from the cab of the fire truck.
They also took the opportunity to remind everyone once again about fire safety rules and careful handling of fire. In addition to the experience of putting on combat clothing, the children learned that it is better to prevent a fire than to extinguish it.
