Lapko Mikhail Ivanovich

Born on September 27, 1961, in the village of Stanelevichi, Postavy District, Vitebsk Region. In 1977, he completed 8 grades at Volkovskaya Eight-Year School and enrolled in Postavy Vocational School No. 165 for tractor driver training. From December 1977, he worked as a tractor driver at the "Krasnoye Znamya" collective farm in Postavy District.

In 1979, he graduated from Sharkovshchina DOSAAF School.

On October 23, 1979, he was drafted into the Armed Forces by the Postavy District Military Commissariat of Vitebsk Region. Until March 1980, he served as a driver in Molodechno, from where he was sent to Afghanistan to the 311th Separate Government Communications Battalion (military unit field post 26153). The unit was stationed in Kabul.

On September 11, 1981, Corporal M. I. Lapko died while performing a combat mission. Mikhail's vehicle, in which he was traveling with comrades for construction materials for the Kabul power plant, came under fire from Dushmans.

Buried in the village of Lasitsa, Postavy District, Vitebsk Region.

For courage and heroism, he was posthumously awarded the Order of the Red Star.

Urbel Alexander Kazimirovich

Urbel Alexander Kazimirovich

Born on June 24, 1965, in the village of Turly, Postavy District, Vitebsk Region. In 1980, he graduated from Telyakovskaya Eight-Year School, and in 1983, from Vocational School No. 165 in Postavy, Vitebsk Region.

On October 29, 1983, he was drafted into the Armed Forces of the USSR by the Postavy District Military Commissariat of Vitebsk Region. He underwent training in a training unit in Kamennogorsk, Leningrad Region.

In January 1984, he was sent to Afghanistan to the 808th Separate Communications Battalion of the 108th Motorized Rifle Division (military unit field post 83572). He served in Bagram as a senior driver-electrician of a satellite communication station.

During a raid operation, his radio station was shelled by the enemy with grenade launchers and small arms. Taking up defensive positions with his comrades, Alexander opened fire from his automatic rifle, repelling the attack. When the radio station's engine stalled, he quickly found and fixed the malfunction. He was severely wounded while returning to the firing position.

On January 5, 1985, Private Urbel died from his wounds in a military hospital in Kabul.

Buried in the village of Turly, Postavy District, Vitebsk Region.

For courage and heroism, he was posthumously awarded the Order of the Red Star.

Mishuto Radion Sergeevich

Mishuto Radion Sergeevich

Born on January 26, 1953, in the village of Vinogrady, Postavy District, Vitebsk Region. In 1970, he graduated from Secondary School No. 2 in Postavy, Vitebsk Region, and worked as a projectionist at the Michurin Collective Farm in Postavy District.


In 1974, he graduated from the Odessa Higher Artillery School. He served in the Far Eastern Military District on the Kuril Islands, and from 1983, in the Baltic Military District as a commander of an artillery battery.

In August 1983, he was sent to Afghanistan as a commander of an artillery battery in the 860th Separate Motorized Rifle Pskov Red Banner Regiment (military unit 89933).

On February 11, 1984, he died while performing a combat mission during an artillery shelling of the battery's firing position. During the battle, the radio broke down, and to communicate with the gun crews, it was necessary to leave the armored vehicle. Captain Mishuto went himself instead of a young soldier. A dum-dum bullet hit his neck.

He is buried in the village of Volokhi, Postavy District, Vitebsk Region.

For his courage and heroism, he was posthumously awarded the Order of the Red Star.

Sergey Sergeevich Golyak

Sergey Sergeevich Golyak

Born on November 12, 1963, in the village of Rylki, Postavy District. His mother, Vera Fleryanovna, worked on a farm, and his father, Sergey Vyacheslavovich, was a worker in a construction brigade.

In 1971, Sergey entered the first grade of Lukashovskaya Secondary School. His first teacher was Romanovich Alexandra Sergeevna.

In 1979, Sergey graduated from the 8th grade and entered the Postavy Agricultural Vocational School, where he received the profession of tractor driver-machinist with qualifications as a mechanic and car driver.

In 1982, Sergey was drafted into the Soviet Army. He fulfilled his international duty in the Syrian Arab Republic. On May 15, 1984, he passed away. Private Sergey did not return home; he died in Syria, leaving behind only the memories of friends and relatives.

Sergey Sergeevich Golyak

Yemets Sergey Andreevich

Yemets Sergey Andreevich

Born on December 5, 1964, in the city of Postavy, Vitebsk Region. In 1982, he graduated from secondary school. He served in the USSR Armed Forces from August 5, 1982. In 1986, he graduated from the Syzran Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots. He served in the 65th Separate Helicopter Regiment of the Air Force of the Belarusian Military District in Kobrin.

In September 1988, he was sent to Afghanistan to the 4th squadron of the 50th Separate Mixed Aviation Regiment (military unit field post 97978 "K") as a helicopter navigator-pilot of a Mi-8.

S.A. Yemets died on November 13, 1988, during the shelling of the Kabul airport by Dushman militants with rockets. On that day, several helicopter commanders and navigators were killed and wounded.

Buried in Minsk at the Chizhovskoye cemetery.

Posthumously awarded the Order of the Red Star for courage and bravery.

Zhumayev Mikhail Alekseevich

Born on December 10, 1952, in Postavy, Vitebsk region. In 1969, he graduated from secondary school No. 15 in Borisov, Minsk region.

In 1971, he was called up for military service in the USSR Armed Forces by the Borisov United City Military Commissariat.

After completing his conscript service, he graduated from the Leningrad Higher Combined Arms Command School and was sent to Afghanistan to military unit field post 93992.

In the Republic of Afghanistan since December 1981. He served as a motorized rifle platoon commander of the 9th company of the 3rd battalion of the 66th Separate Vyborg Red Banner Orders of Lenin and Alexander Nevsky Motorized Rifle Brigade in the area of Jalalabad.

He participated in 8 combat operations. On September 30, 1982, with a group of soldiers, he covered the retreat of a battalion that came under crossfire from the enemy. Having received a severe wound, he blew himself up with his last grenade along with the surrounding rebels to avoid capture.

Buried in Borisov, Minsk region.

For courage and military valor, he was posthumously awarded the Order of the Red Banner and the medal "For Courage."

Kulazhenko Gennady Vladimirovich

Born on July 27, 1952, in Narovlya, Gomel region. In 1969, he graduated from secondary school No. 9 in Minsk, then worked as an assembler at the Ordzhonikidze Computer Plant in Minsk. In 1975, he graduated from the Faculty of History of BSU named after V. I. Lenin. After graduating from the university, he was appointed director of an 8-year school in Postavy district. In the same year, 1975, he was elected second secretary of the Postavy District Committee of the LKSMB. From 1976 to 1978, he studied at the Higher Komsomol School of the Central Committee of the Komsomol, after which he worked for a short period as an instructor of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the LKSMB. From 1978 to 1980, he was the first secretary of the Postavy District Committee of the LKSMB.

In December 1980, he was sent to Afghanistan as an advisor to the Democratic Youth Organization of Afghanistan for the North-Western Zone (Herat–Ghor–Badghis).

On June 28, 1981, while traveling in a local taxi from the airport to Herat, G.V. Kulazhenko was captured by bandits and killed. The whereabouts of his remains remained unknown. For his courage and heroism shown in fulfilling his international duty, G.V. Kulazhenko was posthumously awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples.

Sivtsov Eduard Ivanovich

Years of service in the DRA: 22.02.1983–06.06.1984

Born on September 16, 1946, in Orsha, Vitebsk region. In 1961, he completed 7 grades of Orsha Secondary School No. 14. From 1961, he worked as a turner at the "Krasny Borets" plant in Orsha.

On October 19, 1965, he was drafted into the Armed Forces by the Orsha United City Military Commissariat of the Vitebsk region and sent to serve in military unit 31561 (Nizhny Tagil, Russia). He was an equipment technician. On July 4, 1968, he was discharged to the reserve upon expiration of his service. He worked as a fitter at the "Legmash" plant.

In 1970, he completed 10 grades of evening school No. 7 in Orsha.

On March 21, 1971, he was called up for extended military service by the Orsha United City Military Commissariat of the Vitebsk region and sent to military unit field post 25687 of the Southern Group of Forces. In 1976, he graduated from the ensign school. From November 16, 1976, he served as the head of the fuel laboratory in military unit 23418 (Postavy airfield).

On February 22, 1983, he was sent to Afghanistan, military unit field post 29761. He was the head of the fuel laboratory.

On June 6, 1984, the helicopter carrying Ensign E.I. Sivtsov was shot down during a combat mission. E.I. Sivtsov and the entire crew died.

He is buried in the village of Zaitsevo, Orsha district, Vitebsk region.

For his courage and heroism, he was posthumously awarded the Order of the Red Star and the medal "To the Internationalist Warrior from the Grateful Afghan People".

Shakola Petr Stepanovich

Shakola Petr Stepanovich

Born on March 17, 1959, in the village of Zhilinskie, Postavy district, Vitebsk region. After the death of his parents, he was raised in an orphanage in Liozno district, Vitebsk region. In 1977, he graduated from Liozno Secondary School, Vitebsk region.

On August 1, 1977, he was drafted into the Armed Forces by the Postavy District Military Commissariat of the Vitebsk region. In 1979, he graduated from the Kirov Military Aviation Technical School. He served in Tashkent (military unit 22523). In the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan from January 1980 as a flight engineer – aerial gunner of the 3rd squadron of the 280th separate helicopter regiment (military unit field post 17668). The regiment operated from the airfield in Kandahar.

As part of the Mi-8T helicopter crew, he repeatedly performed combat missions to cover ground troops' combat operations in Afghanistan.

Ensign P.S. Shakola died on April 9, 1980, during another combat sortie to transfer a landing party. The helicopter was shot down and exploded.

He is buried in Vitebsk at the Mazurino cemetery.

For his courage and heroism, he was posthumously awarded the Order of the Red Star and the medal "To the Internationalist Warrior from the Grateful Afghan People".
