Attention!!! Thin ice!

Pursuant to paragraph 50 of the Rules for the Protection of Human Life on Water Bodies of the Republic of Belarus, approved by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus No. 1623 of December 11, 2009, and in order to prevent accidents on water bodies in the Vitebsk region during the winter-spring period of 2022/2023, a ban has been imposed on citizens accessing ice in the district during the ice formation period (until the ice thickness reaches 7 centimeters), as well as during intense thawing and ice destruction.

The corresponding order was adopted by the district executive committee to prevent accidents on water bodies and preserve human lives. The document prohibits going out on the ice until its thickness reaches 7 cm. Failure to comply with the lawful requirements of law enforcement officers entails administrative liability in the form of a fine ranging from 20 to 50 basic units.

According to the Vitebsk Regional RGOO OSVOD, the ice thickness does not reach 7 cm on the following water bodies:

Water areas of the Western Dvina and Dnieper rivers along their entire length.

Beshenkovichy district: lakes – Ostrovenskoye, Beloye, Saro, Svyatoye, Strigoevskoye, Poluozerye.

Verkhnedvinsk district: lake – Osveyskoye.

Glubokoye district: lakes – Velikoye, Kagalnoye, Petrovskoye, Bolshaya Plissa, Beloye, Sho.

Gorodok district: lakes – Chernovo, Bernovo.

Lepel district: lakes – Lepelskoye, Prosha, Shchibot, Bobritsa, Polsvizh, Lyadno. Ladosno, Okono, Borovno, Cherskoye, rivers – Essa, Ulla.

Polotsk district: lakes – Yanovo, Paulie, Suya, Gomlya, Beloye.

Postavy district: lakes – Luchay, Chetvert.

Rossony district: lakes – Klesno, Tuchek, Bredno, Beloye-Yukhovskoye, Nozhnitsy, Neshcherdo, Selyavshchinskoye, Valkovskoye, Cherepititskoye, Vedito, Dolzhnoye, river Nishcha.

Ushachy district: lakes – Vechelye, Oslovo, Poluozerye, Tartak, Zvon, Glubokoye, Krivoye, Lipno, Bolshoye Isno, Zamoshye, Plino, Yazno, Glybochka, Berezovskoye, Paulskoye, Verkudskoye, Uroda, Mugirino.

Chashniki district: lakes – Khotlino, Tyapino, microdistrict "Bumazhnaya Fabrika", Beloye, Paulskoye, Chereyskoye, Lukomlskoye, flooded quarry Gili.

Shumilino district: lake Budoves.
