Turn on your low beams! From May 25 to June 5, 2019, the State Automobile Inspectorate is conducting the special complex event "Attention – Children!"

Due to the end of the academic year and in anticipation of the summer holidays, from May 25 to June 5, 2019, the State Automobile Inspectorate will conduct a special complex event "Attention – Children!" on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. During this period, drivers are obliged to drive with their low beam headlights on. Failure to comply with this traffic rule entails administrative liability in the form of a fine of up to 2 basic units (51 rubles).
The purpose of this event is to prevent child road traffic injuries, instill safe road behavior skills in young road users, and draw the attention of drivers, parents, and educators to the problem of child injuries. Also, to prevent child road traffic injuries, a decade of road safety is being held in the Postavy district from May 15 to May 25, 2019.

Caring for children is our common responsibility. Child neglect, games and mischief on the roads, sudden appearance near vehicles, and indifference of adults to these issues are the main causes of accidents involving children on the roads. In 2019 alone, 11 road accidents involving minors were registered in the Vitebsk region, in which 1 child died and 10 sustained injuries of varying severity.
Dear adults, if you see children playing on or near the roadway, do not remain indifferent; admonish the children and try to take measures to isolate them from traffic. Parents, be especially careful with preschool children on the street; do not leave them unattended. Remember that even one wrong step by a child on the roadway can lead to misfortune. Every time your child leaves home, take the time to remind them of the simple rules of behavior on the street. Be an example for children in observing traffic rules.
