The guilty will be punished…
Everyone knows the phrase from Ilf and Petrov's novel "The Twelve Chairs," uttered by one of its characters: "An automobile is not a luxury, but a means of transportation!" Nowadays, everyone has their own attitude towards this vehicle. Nevertheless, everyone wants to keep their property intact, and damage to a car during a criminal assault is extremely unpleasant, not to mention the theft of its parts or property left in the cabin.
Every year, a large number of thefts from citizens' cars are registered in the Vitebsk region. Our district is no exception. In the first 10 months of 2017 alone, 8 such incidents were registered in the Postavy district, most of them occurring in the city of Postavy. Law enforcement agencies do not always manage to identify the criminals, and they often remain unpunished.
One exception is the apprehension of two criminals who, on the night of November 8-9, stole property belonging to citizens by breaking the side windows of cars parked on Yubileynaya Street in Postavy. During further investigative measures, it was established that these individuals had committed two more thefts of car batteries from vehicles on Kosmonavtov Street.
Thanks to the coordinated actions of police precinct inspectors Murzyonok A.I., Garbul V.E., and driver Izhmaylovich P.K., the criminals will face their punishment. For committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (theft) as part of a group, the guilty parties face punishment in the form of correctional labor for up to two years, or arrest for a period of three to six months, or restriction of liberty for up to four years, or imprisonment for the same term.
In turn, I would like to appeal to the residents of our district with a request to be more vigilant and take measures to protect their property. After all, no one can ensure the safety of your property as well as you can.
In case of crimes and offenses committed against you or your property, immediately report it to the police by calling 102.
