On Sunday, July 16, a young man drowned in Lake Zadevskoye

On Sunday, July 16, the Pastavy District Department of Internal Affairs received a report that a young man had died on Lake Zadzevskaye. An operational investigative team went to the scene to ascertain the circumstances of the tragedy.

It was preliminarily established that on that evening, a resident of Pastavy, born in 1986, went to the lake from Tikhaya Street by bicycle. He was swimming alone. Later, another resident of the district center also visited the area. He saw a young man swimming — at that moment, nothing foreshadowed trouble.

After some time, the person disappeared from sight, which was alarming. The resident of the district center swam to the place where he had last seen him. The fear was confirmed: the person was underwater without signs of life. The resident of Pastavy pulled him to the shore, which was about 15 meters away. He immediately called an ambulance and the police. Unfortunately, the drowned person could not be resuscitated.

Whether the deceased was intoxicated will be determined by forensic medical examination. He was not registered with the District Department of Internal Affairs and worked for an individual entrepreneur.

Since the beginning of summer, this is already the second death on Zadzevskaye — in June, a 14-year-old girl drowned there. The list of victims will not increase if every vacationer adheres to the rules of conduct on water bodies. The main ones are: do not enter the water while intoxicated, do not swim in unequipped places, do not dive in unfamiliar water areas, do not leave children unattended, do not allow hypothermia of the body by staying in the water for too long. Try not to swim alone so that in case of danger, there is someone to help you.
