“Children are a priority!” – a campaign by the Ministry of Emergency Situations is launched
How long does it take for a child to reach matches from a cupboard? To switch on an electrical appliance? Or, perhaps, to hide from prying eyes and light a bonfire? There is only one correct answer to these and similar questions – absolutely no time, if parents carefully supervise their child and do not leave them unattended.
Unfortunately, statistics show that most "fire-related" injuries sustained by children are due to two reasons: insatiable curiosity and lack of supervision from adults. And if it is impossible to prevent a small person from exploring the world around them, then everyone can take care of their safety in advance.
From August 22, the preventive campaign "In the Spotlight - Children!" starts in the republic and will last until September 21.
The campaign's activities, conducted in two stages, are aimed at drawing public attention to the problem of child fatalities and injuries from fires due to being left unattended.
Thus, from August 22 to August 31, in large shopping centers and other retail outlets specializing in goods for preschool and school-aged children, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, together with activists of the Belarusian Youth Public Organization of Firefighters and Rescuers (BMOOSP) and the Young Firefighters Club (KYUSP), will remind parents about the dangers of leaving children unattended and advise on how to protect their family from emergencies. Here, rescuers will also invite children to participate in the quest "Safety Exam 2022".
In addition, the "Young Rescuers" academy will open in various parts of the region. Participants will take a safety rules exam, consisting of theoretical and practical parts, and will receive a "Certificate of Completion of the Young Rescuers Academy".
The Ministry of Emergency Situations, as always, tries to warn and once again reminds: "Dear parents, do not leave your children unattended, explain to them the importance of observing fire safety rules!"
