"Children in the spotlight!": an MES campaign starts on August 19 in the Postavy district
The republican information and propaganda campaign of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) "Children in Focus!" will start on August 19 and last until September 13. The main goal of the campaign is to draw public attention to the problem of child injuries and deaths from external causes, including fires due to being left unattended.
The campaign will be held in two stages. The first stage will last from August 19 to August 30. The main target audience at this stage will be parents, and the venues for events will be shopping areas and places selling children's goods (school bazaars, fairs). In departments with children's clothing in large shopping centers and other retail outlets, sets of children's firefighter combat clothing will appear on mannequins and hangers, and in stationery departments – fire extinguishers and autonomous fire detectors. All these attributes will have tags with the slogan "For children left unattended." MES employees will act as experts in child safety, who will talk about safe behavior rules, help acquire not only school supplies but also invaluable knowledge, and as a pleasant bonus – will hand out bright brochures, booklets, memos, and "Tips from MES for Parents and Children" to everyone. Also, rescuers will offer children to take a "Safety Exam." Participants will receive a special bracelet and a "Safety Diary" with tasks to complete. Once they cope with all of them, the examiners will put a corresponding mark in the "Safety Diary" and hand the examinee a "Certificate of Exam Completion," which will be proof of strong knowledge in the field of safety for its owner.
The second stage will last from September 2 to September 13. Rescuers will attend festive assemblies and also conduct thematic "Safety Lessons" with children. Also, MES employees will take part in parent meetings, where they will draw parents' attention to ensuring safe living conditions for children, teaching them safe behavior rules at home and on the street. Activists of the Belarusian Youth Public Organization of Firefighters and Rescuers (BMOSP) and other interested organizations will take part in the campaign.
