At the Grigorovshchina border crossing, Vitebsk customs officers uncovered the illegal import of a DAF tractor unit and a KOGEL semi-trailer disguised as EAEU vehicles.
The vehicle combination, driven by a Kyrgyz carrier, was en route from Latvia.
During customs control, customs officers suspected the authenticity of the VIN numbers, so the vehicles were sent for examination.
According to the expert opinion of the Novopolotsk Interdistrict Department of the State Committee of Forensic Examinations, the VIN markings of both the tractor and the semi-trailer had been deliberately altered.
During subsequent verification measures, customs officers established that foreign vehicles were attempted to be passed off as already registered in the EAEU by using license plates and documents belonging to completely different vehicles.
The tractor and semi-trailer, with a total value of over 97 thousand Belarusian rubles, have been seized.
The Vitebsk Customs has initiated administrative proceedings against the carrier in accordance with Part 2 of Article 15.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus.
According to the article's sanction, he faces a fine of up to 500 basic units with possible confiscation of the vehicle combination.
