In Postavy district, a block of flats caught fire: a pensioner died

On January 11, at 1:47 AM, the operational control center of the Postavy District Department for Emergency Situations received a report about a house fire in the urban settlement of Voropaevo, Postavy District.

Upon arrival of the Ministry of Emergency Situations units at the scene, open burning of the roof of a residential three-apartment block house was observed.

The owners of the second and third apartments left the dwelling independently before the arrival of rescuers and were not injured.

During the fire extinguishing, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations found the body of the owner of apartment No. 1, a pensioner born in 1958, on the floor.

The fire was extinguished by rescuers; the roof in apartment No. 1 was destroyed by fire, and the ceiling, walls, and property were damaged.

An investigation is underway into this incident, and the cause of the fire is being established. Careless handling of fire is being considered as a possible cause.
