Almost every crime is committed due to the careless attitude of the victims themselves towards the safety of their property and the low level of security of its storage places. Thieves love easy prey. Even the simplest precautions will help you keep your property safe: equip your home, garage, and outbuildings with reliable locking devices and security alarm systems.

One type of "easy prey" for thieves is theft.

In the Postavy district in 2022, based on the analysis of crimes committed in public places, the largest number falls on thefts – 11 (APPF – 14, or -4). Their number decreased compared to last year. An analysis of the crimes of this type showed that the objects of encroachment were: money - 6, bicycle - 5.

By place of commission:

on the streets - 3 incidents;

shops, markets, administrative buildings - 3 incidents;

apartment building - 4;

sports facilities - 1.

The largest number of thefts (7) were committed on weekdays, while 4 crimes of this type were committed on weekends.

By time of commission of thefts, it can be noted that 6 thefts were committed at night (from 22:00 to 08:00), and 5 thefts during the day and evening (from 08:00 to 22:00).

As previous years' practice shows, the problem of bicycle theft remains relevant in the city and district. Often, the prerequisites for theft are created by the property owners themselves, who do not ensure its safety in a timely manner.

We would like to recommend several simple, yet effective measures for bicycle owners to protect their property:

- do not leave your bicycle unattended on the stairwell, in basements, near entrances or shops;

- mark the main parts of the bicycle, write down their numbers, this will help identify the bicycle in case of theft;

- purchase a locking device that prevents bicycle theft, and use it when leaving the bicycle for a short time.

In the Postavy district, 11 gardening partnerships are registered, of which 7 are active. These 7 partnerships have 329 dacha households. The number of dacha households located in settlements, outside gardening partnerships and dacha cooperatives, is 1329.

We would like to recommend several simple, yet effective measures for dacha owners to protect their property:

- always lock your dacha, even when you leave it for a short time;

- remove valuable items from the dacha for the autumn-winter period;

- neighbors, help each other, report suspicious persons appearing in the area of dacha arrays and gardening partnerships to the police by phone 102, reporting the signs of the intruders and the transport they are using.
