Vitebsk to celebrate Marc Chagall’s birthday

VITEBSK, 6 July (BelTA) – On 7 July, Vitebsk will celebrate Marc Chagall’s birthday. An exhibition of giclee on canvas, a presentation of the book dedicated to the famous painter and a Jewish food testing party will be organized in the city, BelTA learned from Larisa Khmelnitskaya, director of the Marc Chagall Museum of Vitebsk. The celebrations will be held in Pokrovskaya street of Vitebsk. It is the street where Marc Chagall was born. The celebration program includes literary and art meetings, Visiting Marc and Bella, an exhibition of the Israeli artist Malka Cenciper. The exhibition will feature 26 giclees on canvas. Poet David Simanovich will present his book, Chagal’s Violin or His Soul Belongs Here. After this, guests of the birthday party will be able to taste the Jewish cuisine. Jewish musical bands, Our Song, and, Jewish Soul, will take part in the celebrations as well. The celebrations have been organized by the Marc Chagall Museum of Vitebsk, the Israeli Culture and Information Center of the Israeli Embassy in Belarus, the Vitebsk Charity Public Association Khasdei David, and the Vitebsk City Jewish Community.
