Venezuelan musicians to perform at Sollertinsky festival in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 22 November (BelTA) – Musicians from Venezuela will take part in the 22nd Sollertinsky International Music Festival for the first time. The festival will open in Vitebsk on 2 December, chief specialist of the culture department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Stanislav Generalnitsky told reporters on 22 November, BelTA has learnt. The story of inviting young Venezuelan musicians is rather remarkable. The Embassy of Venezuela in Belarus submitted a proposal to invite the musicians to the festival. However, only laureates of international competitions can qualify to take part in this forum. “We cannot invite musicians we know nothing about; this is why we asked them to send us their music video. After watching the video we realized that these are very talented young musicians,” Stanislav Generalnitsky said. The Venezuelan musicians study at the Paris Music Academy and have already taken part in several music events. The 22nd Sollertinsky International Music Festival will be held in Vitebsk on 2-22 December. Taking part in the event will be musicians from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, USA, France, Israel, Finland, Norway and Venezuela. The festival will feature ten concerts. The festival is organized by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Vitebsk City Executive Committee and the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic.
