Kubrakov: Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs is open to dialogue with Iraqi colleagues

The Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs is open to dialogue and is ready to consider any areas of mutually beneficial cooperation with Iraqi law enforcers, Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov said at a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, BelTA was informed in the Interior Ministry. 

The delegation of the Iraqi Interior Ministry arrived in Belarus to discuss the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, to study the issues of ensuring public order at public events, border protection, training of Iraqi specialists at the Academy of the Interior Affairs Ministry of Belarus.

Ivan Kubrakov assured his colleagues that Belarusian law enforcers are open to dialogue and ready to consider any areas of mutually beneficial cooperation. During previous visits, the Iraqi side expressed interest in studying the Belarusian experience in public order protection, the use of UAVs, and showed interest in products made by domestic manufacturers for law enforcers.

The Belarusian minister expressed confidence that the meeting would give practical substance to the agreements reached earlier and bring the bilateral partnership to a higher level. It was proposed to intensify the preparation of agreements on the transfer of sentenced persons and cooperation in the fight against crime. Another promising area could be the training of Iraqi police officers in the Belarusian educational institutions. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus has accumulated a wealth of experience in training foreign officers of special units, specialists in countering cybercrime, canine service, and many others. 

The Iraqi minister thanked his Belarusian counterpart for the warm welcome, readiness to share experience, and voiced a number of proposals aimed at developing the partnership, for example, in the fight against drug crime. The head of the Iraqi law enforcement agency also invited Ivan Kubrakov to visit Baghdad.
