Sports excitement, a wonderful mood, and sunny weather accompanied the district sports festival among representatives of voluntary squads.

Traditional competitions among police and border guard assistants gathered 9 participating teams on September 21 at the stadium of the physical culture and recreation complex in the district center. Their composition included representatives of Voropaevsky, Kurapolsky, Volkovsky, and Yunkovsky rural councils, DEU-33, UP ZhKKh, the state college, the forestry enterprise, and the Belit plant.

During the solemn formation, Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee Yuri Kiselev addressed them with a welcoming speech:

— I sincerely thank you for the significant and conscientious assistance you provide to the law enforcement agencies of the district. Each of you is an example of a true person, citizen, patriot, — he said. — And today you will once again demonstrate your level of physical fitness. And we have no doubt that it is high. I wish you good results, a great mood, and may victory go to the strongest team.

His words were echoed by Oleg Ignatovich, Deputy Head of the Public Order and Prevention Department of the District Department of Internal Affairs. He emphasized that the squad members significantly contribute to the fulfillment of tasks facing law enforcement officers and wished everyone successful starts.

Presentation of participants, familiarization with the conditions of the sports festival, raising of the State Flag by team captains, drawing of lots, a 10-minute warm-up — and the intense struggle for prize places began. It was closely monitored by the organizers of the competitions. This year, they were the departments of ideological work, culture and youth affairs, and internal affairs of the district executive committee, the state association "Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of Postavy District", the border commandant's office "Postavy", the district organization of the RGO "Belaya Rus" and the district organizational structure of DOSAAF.

It has become customary for physically strong young men to compete for the title of the best squad members. Therefore, the only female participant in the sports starts could not help but attract attention. She turned out to be Natalya Yurevich, a physical culture and health teacher at Voropaevsky Secondary School. The woman admitted that she participates in many sports competitions, so she would not let herself be offended. Which she perfectly demonstrated during the sports festival.

The competitions consisted of sports-applied all-around, which included a 100-meter run, grenade throwing, and a complex of strength exercises; special training (theoretical questions on legal and medical-sanitary training); pneumatic rifle shooting; darts; tug-of-war. Winners were determined in each type.

The first place in sports-applied all-around was taken by the team of the Volkovsky volunteer squad, the second — by the forestry enterprise, the third — by the Yunkovsky rural council. In pneumatic rifle shooting and tug-of-war, the college representatives had no equals, slightly behind them in the first discipline were representatives of the Volkovsky rural council and the forestry enterprise, in the second — squad members from the forestry enterprise and DEU-33. The most accurate in darts was the team of utility workers, in second place were the Kurapoltsy, in third — the forestry workers. The best theoretical training was shown by the teams of the Yunkovsky rural council, UP ZhKKh, and the Belit plant.

In the overall team standings, the housing and communal services team won. Second place went to the forestry enterprise team, third — to the Volkovsky rural council. All prize-winners of the competitions were awarded diplomas, and the prize-winners of the overall team standings — also gifts from the district organization of the RGO "Belaya Rus".
