Employees of the traffic police department of the Postavy District Department of Internal Affairs will strengthen control over drunk drivers
From September 23 to 29, the State Automobile Inspectorate of Postavy District Department of Internal Affairs is conducting a set of preventive measures aimed at preventing and suppressing cases of driving under the influence of alcohol.
During this period, control over the physical condition of drivers will be strengthened, and special raid events will be conducted to identify intoxicated drivers.
In accordance with the amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus and the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus dated October 24, 2013, responsibility for driving under the influence of alcohol has been strengthened: the fine ranges from 50 to 100 basic units with deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for 3 years, also for consuming alcohol before the necessary check, including after committing a traffic accident, the driver will have to pay a fine ranging from 50 to 100 basic units with deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for three years.
The same actions, committed repeatedly within a year, may entail criminal liability under Article 317-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, in addition, confiscation of the vehicle (regardless of ownership), deprivation of driving rights for 5 years with correctional labor or arrest or restriction of freedom for up to 2 years are provided. The mandatory fine for this offense will be up to 1000 basic units.
