Today, Postavy District is one of the largest agricultural districts in the Vitebsk Region with a developed industry focused on industrial processing of raw materials produced in the district and providing the population with food products.
In recent years, significant work has been carried out in the district to reform agricultural enterprises, optimize their number, and currently there are 9 agricultural enterprises operating, providing the district's population with food products and processing enterprises with raw materials.
74.7 thousand hectares of agricultural land are assigned to agricultural producers, including 46.6 thousand hectares of arable land. The plowing rate of agricultural land is 62.4%, its fertility is estimated at 28.1 points, and arable land at 25.6 points.
The specialization of agricultural production is dairy and beef cattle breeding with developed grain production and flax cultivation.
In the structure of sown areas, grain and leguminous crops occupy 39.7%, rapeseed – 9.8%; flax – 2.9%; potatoes – 0.1%; fodder crops – 47.5%.
The average headcount of employees engaged in agricultural production is 1.5 thousand people.
