The best house spirit is a smoke detector!

In Postavy, the republican campaign "Detector in Every Home" is underway, during which Ministry of Emergency Situations employees inspect citizens' homes for compliance with fire safety rules. They also recommend adding another safety element to the interior of living rooms – an autonomous fire detector (AFD). Since the beginning of the year, this small device has saved 27 people, including 5 children.

Safety posts are also operating where people can learn about fire detectors and the necessity of installing them in living quarters. Based on common logic, many people install AFDs in the kitchen, as it is believed that the hearth of the home can often become a source of fire. However, they do not even consider that a detector installed in the kitchen is more frequently exposed to contamination from cooking products, thereby provoking false alarms. Consequently, AFDs are removed, and the power element is taken out. Such a sequence of events negates the presence of an AFD in the home. And the risk of suffocating from smoke at night increases significantly.

Surprised by the unusual location of the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees, people rushed with their questions. "How to properly heat a stove: to be warm and without overheating?", "What is the price of safety?", "How often should the chimney be cleaned?" - such questions were often addressed to the experts, who provided accessible explanations. No one left the safety post without gaining useful knowledge, and the conducted contests energized them for the rest of the day!
