From August 7 to 17, the State Automobile Inspectorate will hold a preventive event "STATE TECHNICAL INSPECTION"
Traffic police officers will check vehicles for admission to road traffic. The main goal of the event is to draw the attention of car owners to maintaining their vehicles in good technical condition.
This year, traffic police officers identified more than 195,000 cases of participation in road traffic without a passed technical inspection. More than 75,000 drivers were detained again within a year for such a violation.
Last year, the number of road accidents due to technical malfunctions of vehicles increased by 13% in the republic. The number of people killed in such accidents increased by almost 67%, and the injured by 74%. This year, 8 road accidents occurred, in which 3 people died and 27 were injured.
For example, in the capital, a resident of the Minsk district, driving a ZiL car, hit a schoolgirl and a woman who were crossing the roadway at a green light. The girl died at the scene of the accident, which occurred due to a faulty braking system.
In the Mogilev region, a man, not having a driver's license, got behind the wheel of a faulty Renault Megane. The car had a metal pipeline to the brake mechanism of the rear right wheel blocked. Near the village of Filatovo, the driver lost control and hit a local resident, born in 1939, who died from her injuries at the scene of the accident.
According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, driving a vehicle without permission for its admission to road traffic entails a warning or a fine of 1 to 3 basic units. In case of repeated commission of the same violation within a year, a fine of 2 to 5 basic units is imposed.
We ask all car owners to responsibly maintain their vehicles in good condition and remind you that a timely technical inspection is the key to the safety of all road users!
