From September 5 to 9, traffic police officers identify intoxicated drivers
From September 5 to 9, the Postavy District Traffic Police Department is conducting a series of preventive measures aimed at preventing road accidents involving drivers under the influence of alcohol, as well as preventing traffic rule violations by intoxicated drivers.
To identify drivers of vehicles who are under the influence of alcohol, including those without a driver's license, daily operations are carried out to identify such individuals and prevent their violations. In the evening and at night, traffic police patrols regularly monitor settlements to stop drivers who are "under the influence" from operating vehicles.
Employees of the district traffic police department conduct extensive informational and educational work on road safety rules among drivers and vulnerable road users.
Traffic police officers urge citizens to report to 102 any instances of a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, as well as vulnerable road users whose actions pose a threat to road safety.
According to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, driving a vehicle while intoxicated carries a fine of 50 to 100 basic units and deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for 3 years. For consuming alcohol before the necessary check, including after committing a road accident, the driver will have to pay a fine of 50 to 100 basic units and be deprived of the right to drive a vehicle for 3 years.
If a person drove a vehicle while intoxicated, or transferred control to such a person, or refused to undergo a check (examination) repeatedly within a year after an administrative penalty for the same violation, then criminal liability under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus applies to such a person. In addition, according to Part 6 of Article 61 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, regardless of ownership, the vehicle driven by the person who committed a crime provided for in Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus is subject to special confiscation (with the exception of vehicles that have left the lawful possession of the owner (user) against their will or as a result of unlawful actions of other persons).
