From August 24 to 31, the Postavy State Automobile Inspectorate conducts a preventive measure

Pedestrians and cyclists are still considered the most vulnerable and unprotected road users, for whom the road carries many dangers and threats, especially when elementary traffic rules are not observed. Unfortunately, it is quite common for pedestrians to cross the roadway in an undesignated place, walk on the roadway while intoxicated, and walk on the road without retroreflective elements in the dark, making them completely invisible. It is precisely such negligent and irresponsible attitude towards one's own life and health that often leads to serious tragedies on the road!

By the way, in the first 7 months of this year, 58 road accidents involving pedestrians were registered in the region, in which 13 people died and 45 were injured to varying degrees of severity. Since the beginning of August, 13 road accidents involving vulnerable road users have occurred in the Vitebsk region, as a result of which one person died and 13 were injured. Of the 13 road accidents, 6 occurred in rural areas.

Thus, with the aim of preventing road accidents involving vulnerable road users, as well as timely response to deteriorating road conditions, from August 24 to 31, State Automobile Inspectorate officers are conducting a preventive measure, within which extensive informational and explanatory work will be organized on safe behavior on the road for both pedestrians and cyclists, and drivers! Raids will be carried out, unregulated pedestrian crossings will be worked on, as well as presentations in labor collectives, where special emphasis will be placed on explaining the innovations in traffic rules that will come into force on October 27, 2022.
