From September 23 to 25, the Postavy State Automobile Inspectorate will strengthen control over the physical condition of drivers
The problem of individuals driving vehicles while under the influence of alcohol or drugs remains relevant.
Fines are applied depending on the concentration of alcohol in the blood or its vapors in exhaled air: up to 0.8 per mille - 100 basic units (1 basic unit - Br32), as before, with deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for a period of three years; over 0.8 per mille - 200 basic units with deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for a period of five years. This fine amount is also established for refusing to undergo an examination for alcohol or drug intoxication, as well as for consuming alcohol or drugs after a request to stop or after committing a road accident before undergoing an examination.
At the same time, the State Automobile Inspectorate draws attention to the fact that intoxicated pedestrians pose a threat to road safety. They walk on the roadway, sometimes sit on it, and even lie down. Sometimes this ends tragically: people die under the wheels of cars. By the way, such traffic offenders also face fines.
The State Automobile Inspectorate urges citizens not to remain indifferent to the problem of "drunk driving." If you witness a driver operating a vehicle while intoxicated, or an intoxicated pedestrian or cyclist on the roadway, immediately report it to 102. Remember that your awareness can save someone's life.
