From December 21, 2023, to January 7, 2024, a set of preventive measures aimed at preventing grave and especially grave crimes against the life and health of citizens will be held on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and Postavy District.

The spread of drunkenness and the alcoholization of certain segments of the population continue to be among the conditions for committing criminally punishable acts.

Overall, the number of registered crimes in this area remained at the previous year's level (10 incidents). The number of threats of murder, infliction of grievous bodily harm, or destruction of property decreased (5–4). 1 crime in the sphere of domestic violence was registered by the Department of Internal Affairs and Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency, related to the use of violence (sexual) against a minor (Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).

More criminal cases initiated under preventive articles were registered compared to the previous year (+40%; 5 – 7).

1 person abusing alcoholic beverages had their legal capacity restricted (previous year – 1).

As the analysis shows, most acts of the specified category are committed on pre-weekend and weekend days. The reasons for the absolute majority of them were conflicts between acquaintances or cohabiting citizens, arising from excessive alcohol consumption.

In this regard, from December 21, 2023, to January 07, 2024, on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and Postavy district, in order to take systemic measures for individual prevention of especially grave and grave crimes, the main stage of the republican preventive action "Complex of preventive measures aimed at preventing grave and especially grave crimes against the life and health of citizens" will be held.
