From March 18 to 22, the State Automobile Inspectorate is holding a special event "Speed"

Traffic police preventive measures start on Friday, March 18, and will last until Tuesday, March 22, inclusive.

The measures are aimed at preventing road accidents caused by speeding. Inspectors will identify these violations using overt, covert, and mixed control, as well as modern technical means.

— Speeding remains one of the main causes of road accidents. Such incidents, as a rule, involve fatalities and severe material or moral damage, — noted the traffic police.

The State Automobile Inspectorate reminds that according to Article 18.12 of the Administrative Offenses Code, exceeding the established speed limit entails liability:

  • from 10 to 20 km/h — a fine of up to 1 base unit;
  • from 20 to 30 km/h — from 1 to 3 base units;
  • from 30 to 40 km/h — from 3 to 10 base units;
  • by 40 km/h or more — from 8 to 12 base units.

For repeated speeding over 20 km/h within one year after the imposition of an administrative penalty, one can receive a fine of 5 to 15 base units or be deprived of the right to engage in certain activities for up to 1 year (not applicable when exceeding the established speed limit is recorded by special technical means operating in automatic mode).
