From March 17 to 27, the traffic police are holding a preventive event "Child – the main passenger!"
Children are the most important passengers!
Under this motto, the State Traffic Inspectorate will hold a preventive event from March 17 to 27. It is dedicated to preventing child road traffic injuries, preventing accidents involving child passengers, and promoting the use of child restraint systems.
Traffic police officers will strengthen control over drivers' compliance with speed limits and rules for the safe transportation of minors by private vehicles, minibuses, as well as organized groups of children by irregular bus services and school buses. In addition, inspectors will be on duty in the most congested areas of streets and roads near schools, stopping traffic violations by minors, as well as by adults accompanying children.
During the campaign, extensive informational and explanatory work will be organized on the main risks and threats to road safety, the need for strict adherence to the requirements for transporting minors using child restraint systems, and the rules for their selection and installation.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urges parents to transport children safely, and also to remind young pedestrians and cyclists about the rules for crossing the roadway.
In the first two months of this year, three children died on the country's roads (all passengers) and 38 were injured. 9 out of 10 such accidents occur due to the fault of adults.
