The republican campaign "Don't burn your life away!" starts in Postavy region

Smoking while intoxicated kills, and not gradually, but instantly. A cigarette butt dropped in bed can cause a fire in 120 seconds. A person receives a lethal dose of carbon monoxide in just three minutes. In recent years, the short phrase in reports: "The cause of the fire is careless handling of fire while smoking" has been heard too often. In the Vitebsk region, every fourth fire occurred due to an intoxicated person, and an increase in fire incidents is observed in 10 districts of the region.

To prevent fires and deaths from them due to careless handling of fire while smoking, a republican preventive campaign "Do not burn your life away!" will be held in the region from November 8 to 18. Rescuers have set themselves the task of reaching everyone and preventing tragedies.

The campaign events are divided into 2 stages. The first will last from November 8 to 11. It will be held at recycling collection points, industrial enterprises, dormitories, and mobile shop locations. Participants of the campaign will be shown a statistical portrait of a fire victim and thematic videos in a dialogue format. To make the interaction interactive, they will be offered to participate in intellectual games "No Smoking Quiz" on the topics of life safety, the harm of smoking, fires caused by smoking, etc.

The second stage of the campaign will take place from November 14 to 18. Rescuers will conduct it in universities, secondary specialized educational institutions (lyceums, colleges), at day care departments at regional narcological dispensaries, rural councils, safety centers, and places with mass gatherings of people (open areas). For example, students will be told about the consequences of smoking and given the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in this area through talent and intellectual abilities in games and quizzes, KVN, miniature contests, open dialogues, thematic discos, and much more. Such forms of work will allow students to get answers to all their questions about life safety.

Creative participants of the campaign will be able to take part in a competition and create a "Safe Ashtray", which will ensure fire safety when smoking in any place and position and will not let you forget about an unextinguished cigarette.

Events for individuals who abuse alcohol will be held at day care departments at regional narcological dispensaries. The meetings will consist of a preventive conversation with viewing thematic videos and practical exercises at thematic sites. To reinforce the acquired knowledge, participants will be given visual and illustrative materials. Representatives of the Internal Affairs Directorate and healthcare will join the Ministry of Emergency Situations in this endeavor.

The campaign will conclude with events in places of mass gatherings of people, rural councils, and open areas with the program "Show without Cigarettes".
