Vitebsk may host Junior Eurovision 2009

The international Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009 may take place in the Summer Amphitheatre in Vitebsk. Deputy Chairman of Belarusian Teleradiocompany Yuri Azarenok told media on September 27, Belarus had sent an application for hosting the contest. If approved, the contest may take place in the Summer Amphitheatre, which is fit for such events. The equipment and personnel could be provided by Belarusian Teleradiocompany. In turn, Belarusian Teleradiocompany Chairman Alexander Zimovsky explained, if Belarus is chosen, organisers of the Junior Eurovision will pick a suitable concert hall in the country and will name their technical requirements. The organisers will also offer lightning and acoustic equipment. According to the official, there will be problems neither with accommodating participants and guests of the festival nor with providing space for rehearsal. Alexander Zimovsky added, the Belarusian participant of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 is already getting prepared. The day before a session of the organisation committee took place to choose Vasily Rainchik as the art director.
