Fires from burning dry grass and making bonfires.
Every spring, rescuers have to deal with a large number of fires caused by burning dry vegetation. While tidying up their own yards, household plots, or dachas, people do not consider the potential consequences of such actions. Many, especially pensioners, overestimate their abilities and subsequently cannot control fires that get out of hand. Engaged in spring chores, owners too late notice that the flames, carried by the wind, have spread to nearby areas and buildings. It is impossible to cope with such fires without the help of rescuers.
Once again, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds that on the territory adjacent to residential buildings, dormitories, garages, open parking lots, and utility buildings, burning dry vegetation, making bonfires, burning garbage, and waste is not allowed.
Upon detection of facts of burning dry grass and careless handling of fire, the perpetrators are brought to administrative responsibility. According to Article 16.40 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, burning dry vegetation, as well as stubble and post-harvest residues in situ in fields, or failure to take measures to eliminate fires on land plots, is punishable by a fine of ten to thirty basic units. However, making bonfires in prohibited places is punishable by a fine of up to 12 basic units.
Dear citizens!
Remember that only your caution and common sense will help you avoid accidents and tragic consequences. Explain to your children what burning dry grass can lead to, especially since their parents will be responsible for the consequences. And if you decide to relax in nature, do not leave the fire unattended even for a short time.
