A light from nowhere

On August 17, 2021, at 20:25, the Postavy District Department for Emergency Situations received a report about a car fire on Leninskaya Street in Postavy. As a result of the fire, the interior of the Opel Vivaro car was damaged. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The considered version of the cause of the fire is a short circuit in the electrical wiring.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds: Actions in case of a car fire:

at the first signs of ignition – the smell of smoke, a strong smell of gasoline, gas, visual appearance of smoke or fire, immediately stop and pull over the vehicle;

turn off the engine – remove the key from the ignition. If your car runs on gas, you must close the valves located in the trunk;

secure the wheels (apply the handbrake or engage a gear if it's a manual transmission);

disconnect the terminals from the battery;

if the doors are blocked, break the glass with improvised means and get out of the car;

in case of a minor fire, proceed to extinguish it with a fire extinguisher;

if the fire spreads rapidly near the fuel tank, immediately leave the car and move to a safe distance of at least 10-15 meters;

call the Ministry of Emergency Situations at 101 or 112
