Fire is merciless. Protect your children!

Child safety is not just a wish, but our adult responsibility. While instilling the best human qualities in children and teaching them useful knowledge and skills, we must remember that teaching life safety skills is as essential as, for example, teaching a child to hold a spoon or read. A well-trained child will subsequently avoid emergencies themselves and will also be able to help people in distress.

A teenager born in 2009 in Myadel District can be an example for his peers and a source of pride for his parents. On April 28, 2021, a single-story residential house caught fire in the village of Sidorovichi. The boy managed to rescue his younger brother, born in 2019, from the fire, sustaining burns of varying severity, as well as cuts to his hands and face. The teenager is in critical condition in the hospital.

Unfortunately, not all stories end well. This year, 4 children died in fires across the country, whereas last year, no child fatalities were recorded during the same period.

On January 17, a 7-year-old boy died in a fire in Starye Dorogi, Minsk Region. The fire occurred at night in a residential building in Starye Dorogi. His mother was later hospitalized in intensive care, and his older sister, a 12-year-old girl, safely escaped.

On April 3, around 6 AM, a private residential house caught fire in the village of Zazerka, Pukhovichi District, Minsk Region. A neighbor, discovering the fire, broke a window and managed to rescue the owner's 4-year-old granddaughter. Unfortunately, the 58-year-old grandmother herself and her one-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter could not be saved.

The lives of two brothers, one born in 2000 and the other in 2011, were claimed by fire in Vetka District, Gomel Region. The tragedy occurred on the night of March 5. The owner's 15-year-old son woke up to the smell of smoke and woke his sleeping parents. The father tried to run into the house to save his sons, but due to heavy smoke, he could not enter. The boys' bodies were found by rescuers under the debris of collapsed structures.

On April 23, rescuers from the Luninets District Department for Emergency Situations in Brest Region received a report about the hospitalization of a young man born in 2003 with thermal burns of varying severity (90% of his body). On April 27, the young man died in the hospital from his injuries. An investigation is underway to determine all the circumstances of the incident.

Rescuers remind: leaving children unattended is extremely dangerous. Keep matches and other incendiary devices out of children's reach. Do not allow young children to use gas and electrical appliances independently, and do not leave lit stoves unattended with children. Be a role model for your children in everything, including strict adherence to safe behavior rules.
