On the state of crime and public order based on the results of the first quarter of the current year

An analysis of the crime situation and public order showed that in the first quarter of this year, the total number of crimes registered in rural areas of the Republic of Belarus decreased by 12.6% (from 4518 to 3948). A decrease was observed in all regions of the country.

At the same time, a significant number of crimes were committed by citizens who were in a state of alcoholic intoxication (769; 19.5% of the total), by persons not employed in the economy – 742 (18.8%), and by previously convicted persons – 530 (13.45%).

In this regard, a set of additional measures is being implemented in the Republic of Belarus to ensure discipline and public order in rural areas.

Goals:

- improving the level of labor discipline at agricultural industrial complex facilities;

- providing corrective influence on individuals leading an antisocial lifestyle;

- involving individuals leading an antisocial lifestyle in labor activities;

- reducing the level of alcohol abuse among the population.

Tasks:

- ensuring an appropriate level of labor discipline at agricultural industrial complex facilities;

- comprehensive application of individual crime prevention measures and preventive influence on able-bodied unemployed citizens, including those registered with internal affairs bodies;

- taking effective measures aimed at employing citizens not engaged in the economy in agricultural industrial complex organizations;

- improving the level of interaction between internal affairs bodies, rural executive committees, public law enforcement councils, labor, employment and social protection bodies, agricultural organizations, and other interested parties in preventing antisocial behavior of citizens and involving them in employment;

- maintaining law and order in rural settlements;

- providing preventive influence on citizens residing in residential premises registered with internal affairs bodies;

- strengthening the protection of elderly citizens from criminal encroachments;

- ensuring the protection of minors raised in disadvantaged families;

- eliminating the causes and conditions contributing to the commission of offenses.
