Geography

Postavy District is one of the larger and more economically stable districts of the Vitebsk Region.

It is the westernmost region of the oblast, bordering Braslav, Sharkovshchina, Glubokoye, and Dokshitsy Districts. It also neighbors Ostrovets District of Grodno Region, Myadel District of Minsk Region, and the Republic of Lithuania.

The district center, Postavy, is located on the Myadelka River, 250 km from Vitebsk and 165 km from Minsk.

The district's area is 2.1 thousand km². Arable land accounts for 60 thousand hectares, and forests cover 43.3% of the territory.

The highest point in the district is Mount Vysokaya (247.1 m), located 0.4 km northwest of Kaptaruny village, Lyntupy rural council.
