We remind you of the rules of conduct in public recreation areas
With the onset of hot days, all citizens seek to relax in mass recreation areas, mainly near bodies of water. Often, police officers can also be seen near bodies of water. Are there really many offenders here?
As the practice of past years and the situation developing on the water bodies of Postavy region show, many people ignore the simplest rules of behavior on the water when swimming, and do not observe safety measures. Often they swim in places not equipped for these purposes. Of particular concern is the fact that not only adults, but also children die on the water.
Thus, in 2025, 2 cases of drowning were registered in the Postavy district. The main causes of death on the waters of the region and district are, as before, the consumption of alcoholic beverages, violation of rules of conduct and safety measures on the water, children swimming unsupervised, inability to swim, and swimming in unauthorized places.
A certain concern of the internal affairs bodies is also caused by the problem of theft of personal property of vacationers. Often, when going for a swim, citizens leave valuable items on the shore, namely mobile phones, documents, precious metal products, and money. Accordingly, if there are those who carelessly left property, then there are also those who are not averse to taking advantage of this situation.
In order to ensure public order and safety of citizens in mass recreation areas, police officers organize patrolling of mass recreation areas by district police inspectors, IDI, State Automobile Inspectorate, including with the involvement of members of volunteer brigades. During their service, the main attention is paid to preventing thefts, suppressing the consumption of alcoholic beverages and beer, polluting the surrounding area, making fires in unauthorized places, and driving vehicles into recreation areas.
In turn, to avoid accidents on the water, the following rules and safety measures should be remembered:
swimming should not be done earlier than 1.5-2 hours after eating;
it is dangerous to swim while intoxicated, in prohibited and unauthorized places, to go boating in a faulty boat or one not equipped with rescue equipment;
those who cannot swim should not use boats, inflatable devices, or other items not equipped with special swimming aids;
if caught in a strong current, do not swim against it, but try to move with the current towards the shore;
if entangled in
