In Postavy, rescuers saved a man from a fire
On January 15, at 03:28, rescuers received a report of a house fire on Gogol Street in Postavy.
Fire and rescue units of Fire and Rescue Unit No. 1 of the Postavy District Department for Emergency Situations immediately responded to the call.
– Just a few minutes later, we arrived at the scene of the fire; the roof of the residential building was already fully engulfed in flames, – said Vladimir Lelyakov, acting head of the duty shift. – My colleagues, master rescuer Evgeny Khmelnitsky and senior instructor-rescuer Valery Segankevich, put on their compressed air breathing apparatus and entered the house. After forcing open the locked front door, we went inside. There was a lot of smoke inside, and we saw a person, a man, on the floor in the living room. We picked him up and carried him outside. Soon, an ambulance arrived. By that time, we had brought the man to consciousness, and he said that there was no one else in the house. After examination by paramedics, he was hospitalized with smoke inhalation.
Concurrently, rescuers began extinguishing the fire, which was soon put out. As a result of the fire, the roof, ceiling, walls, and property in the house were damaged.
As it turned out later, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued a local resident, a man born in 1979, who had unlawfully entered the dwelling. The homeowner was at that time in a medical-labor dispensary in Vitebsk.
An investigation is underway into this incident, and the cause of the fire is being established.
