In the Postavy region, events are being held to prevent road accidents involving vulnerable road users
From January 23 to 29, the State Automobile Inspectorate is conducting a series of preventive measures in the Postavy district to prevent road accidents involving vulnerable road users (pedestrians, cyclists, drivers of horse-drawn vehicles).
One of the causes of fatalities on the roads remains collisions with the most vulnerable road users – pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers of horse-drawn vehicles. In terms of severity of consequences, such accidents rank first.
Many pedestrians do not understand that in some cases, drivers are unable to notice a person on the roadway in time, especially if they are not marked with retroreflective elements.
The State Automobile Inspectorate of Postavy reminds:
Before stepping onto the roadway, a pedestrian must ensure there is no traffic or correctly assess the distance to approaching vehicles and their speed.
At uncontrolled pedestrian crossings, vehicle drivers must yield to pedestrians crossing the roadway. After all, a "zebra crossing" is the only way for both children and adults to safely cross to the other side of the street. During these days, traffic police officers are on duty near uncontrolled pedestrian crossings to prevent and identify drivers who violate this rule.
Every road user must think for themselves and value their safety, otherwise, the sad statistics of road accidents will continue to accumulate, taking and injuring human lives.
