Last week, during special operations near the Belarusian-Russian border, Belarusian customs officers identified further instances of illegal pear transportation.

In total, approximately 40 tons of fruit, valued at over 275 thousand Belarusian rubles, were intended for export from Belarus to Russia.

In the first case, Mogilev customs officers stopped a VOLVO truck containing 20 tons of pears. The driver lacked the necessary accompanying documents and safety certificates for the produce.

A similar violation was recorded by Vitebsk customs officers.

Another 20 tons of fruit were being transported in circumvention of the law, concealed by empty boxes, in a MERCEDES vehicle.

Customs authorities initiated administrative proceedings against the Belarusian carriers in accordance with Article 13.12 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus. The fine, according to the article's sanction, will amount to up to 50% of the value of the subject of the administrative offense.
