Lukashenko expressed political support for the President of Brazil ahead of the upcoming elections

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has expressed political support for the incumbent President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, ahead of the upcoming elections in the country. The head of state made the statement at a meeting with Ambassador of Brazil Bernard Klingl, a BelTA correspondent reports.

"Brazil is going through an important political moment. As far as I am informed, you will have general elections this year. You will be electing officials for all possible positions. Frankly speaking, I do not envy you in this, because it is a difficult period. But we are very hopeful that the current President of Brazil will retain his post in these elections. As far as I am informed, he has confirmed his participation in these elections," the head of state said.

"We will do our utmost, if Brazil needs it, to ensure that the elections are held in a calm and peaceful atmosphere in the interests of the Brazilian people. If it is needed," the President of Belarus assured.
