The State Automobile Inspectorate carries out a set of preventive measures

From February 17 to February 20, the State Automobile Inspectorate carries out a set of preventive measures to conduct operations (using overt, covert, and mixed control methods) in settlements and on roads, aimed at suppressing and preventing violations of traffic rules, which are the main causes of road traffic accidents.

In January of this year, 23 (-18% or -5) road traffic accidents with casualties (hereinafter - RTAs) occurred in the Vitebsk region, in which 6 (previous period - 6) people died and 32 (+10% or +3) were injured.

The main causes of road accidents were violations of traffic rules by drivers (82% of the total number of RTAs or 19).

For reference: categories of traffic rule violations committed by vehicle drivers that led to accidents:

  1.  violation of pedestrian crossing rules - 5;
  2.  failure to observe the priority of passage at intersections - 2;
  3.  driving a vehicle without a license - 2.

Due to the fault of pedestrians, 4 (+100% or +2) road traffic accidents occurred, in which 2 (+100%; or +1) people died and 2 (+100%; or +1) received injuries of varying severity.

In addition, due to the fault of cyclists, 1 (+100%; or +1) accident was registered, as a result of which 1 (+100%; or +1) vulnerable road user died at the scene of the RTA.

  1. violation of the rules for using personal mobility devices - 4
  2. crossing the roadway in an unauthorized place - 3
  3. moving while intoxicated - 2
