Electric heaters

Despite the heating already being turned on, some people create a comfortable temperature for themselves using electric heaters. They are used to heat country houses, garages, or premises where there is no heating at all.

The first thing to remember when choosing a heater is the quality of the product with a manufacturer's warranty. Refrain from purchasing electric heaters at markets, temporary kiosks, and especially from individuals. Carefully read the technical specifications and all required documents. Inspect the heater itself – there should be no dents, damage, or strong odors.

Regardless of whether you choose a floor-standing or wall-mounted heater, it must be placed in accordance with the operating instructions, at a distance of at least half a meter from flammable objects. When placing an electric heater near a window, it is necessary to prevent it from being covered by curtains, which can heat up and ignite. Floor-standing heaters must be installed on a solid, level surface.

Another important point is the direct connection of the electric heater to the mains. When turning on the heater, it should be remembered that it is a high-power appliance, so the heater should be plugged into a stationary outlet to prevent overloading the electrical wiring and short circuits.

Like any electrical appliance, a heater requires careful handling. The first thing to do before starting operation is to carefully read the operating instructions.

Never leave an electric heater unattended when switched on, including overnight, and do not use them for drying clothes.

A fire that occurred in April 2019 in a country house in the Vitebsk district confirmed this rule. The owner, after turning on the heater, went to the garden. As a result of the fire, the owner's country house was completely destroyed. In the neighboring house, the roof, ceiling, walls, and property inside the house were damaged over the entire area.

· do not allow children to play with or near electric heaters;

· regularly clean the heater from dust, first unplugging it from the mains and allowing it to cool down.

· it is important to remember that every appliance has its own service life. Using it beyond the established period can lead to tragic consequences;

· ensure that plugs and sockets do not overheat – this is the first sign of an electrical appliance malfunction or network overload;

· monitor the condition of the heating appliance: repair and replace parts in a timely manner if they fail;

· use only industrially manufactured appliances. Damaged, homemade electric heaters must not be used;

· do not place the heater's power cords under carpets and other coverings, do not place heavy objects (e.g., furniture) on the cords;

· this can lead to insulation damage.

There are many rules, of course, but it is necessary to remember them, because your safety depends on it.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds: in case of any emergency, it is necessary to urgently call the rescue service by phone 101 or 112.
