"Fire-Safe Home" — Safety Ahead of the Holidays in Postavy

With the onset of cold weather and the approach of the New Year holidays, when homes are filled with comfort, warmth, and a festive atmosphere, the risk of fires also increases. That is why a special preventive event called "A Home Without Fire" is being held in the city of Postavy. This initiative, conducted with the support of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, is aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and preventing emergencies.

As part of the prevention efforts, rescuers from the Postavy District Department for Emergency Situations are actively visiting city residents. The purpose of these visits is not only to remind them of the importance of observing fire safety rules but also to conduct a comprehensive inspection of their homes for potential threats.

During the inspections, special attention is paid to the proper functioning of heating appliances, the presence and functionality of standalone fire detectors, and, of course, electrical safety, as the pre-New Year period is a time when homes are transformed by festive lights. Garlands, lamps, and other electrical devices used for decoration can cause a fire if used improperly or if they are faulty.

In addition to technical inspections, rescuers hold preventive talks with citizens. They share real-life examples of fires that occurred due to carelessness or failure to follow safety rules. They talk about the consequences of such incidents, emphasizing that fire spares no one.

On the eve of the New Year holidays, when everyone strives to create an atmosphere of comfort and joy, one should not forget about vigilance. Adherence to basic fire safety rules, timely inspection of heating appliances and electrical equipment, as well as the presence of
