So that your two-wheeled friend doesn't let you down

Traffic Police informs
From April 12 to April 21, 2019, the Traffic Police is conducting a nationwide preventive campaign "Start the season without violations!".

The purpose of the campaign is to prevent road accidents involving motorcycles, other mechanical two-wheeled vehicles, and to prevent violations of traffic rules.

Remember that the driver's worst enemy is alcohol.

When operating a motorcycle, the driver and passengers must wear fastened motorcycle helmets. Drive your motorcycle at a speed that allows you to assess the road situation and take necessary actions to ensure traffic safety.

Road Accident Statistics

In January-March 2019, 9 road accidents caused by motorcycle drivers occurred in the Republic of Belarus, in which 2 people died and 8 were injured.
In the Vitebsk region during the same period in 2019, 2 road accidents involving motorcycle drivers occurred (Gluboksky and Polotsky districts), 2 people were injured. One of the motorcycle drivers was under the influence of alcohol.

Causes of Road Accidents

• In 40% of fatal cases, motorcyclists go off the road, usually when turning.
• About 18% — when passing a red light at an intersection, failing to comply with a "STOP" sign, and even more often — in a collision with another vehicle (in 12% of cases — a head-on collision).
• Motorcycle falls account for about 7% of the total number of fatal accidents.
• About 15% of road accidents occur due to the fault of another vehicle's driver who failed to notice an approaching motorcyclist in time. The latter is less protected than a car driver, who can be saved from injuries by the car body.
