Safe holiday

The beloved, long-awaited holiday – New Year – is approaching. Everyone prepares for its celebration in their own way. Some buy gifts, while others, wishing to celebrate it brightly, purchase pyrotechnic products, often without caring about their own safety and the safety of loved ones.

As practice shows, the use of various pyrotechnic products mainly occurs at night, including in places of mass gatherings, which, as a rule, causes a negative reaction from citizens, their justified appeals to various authorities to take measures against offenders and maintain proper public order, and leads to injuries, primarily among minors.

To identify and suppress illegal sales of pyrotechnic devices, including in markets and other public places, as well as to prevent their use by citizens, the Postavy District Department of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with interested parties, traditionally conducts a series of preventive measures before the holidays, including bringing citizens to justice.

For violations of the rules for handling pyrotechnic products, the legislator has provided for both administrative and criminal liability.

Thus, in accordance with Article 23.48 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, a violation of the rules for handling pyrotechnic products is punishable by a warning or a fine of up to 10 basic units. For a repeated commission of the specified act, a fine of 10 to 20 basic units is provided, with or without confiscation of the subject of the administrative offense.

For the use of pyrotechnic products in public places, administrative liability is provided for under Article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for "petty hooliganism," as these actions violate both public order and the peace of citizens, for which a fine of 2 to 30 basic units or administrative arrest is provided.

If pyrotechnic products cause damage to the life and health of citizens, criminal liability arises, in particular under Article 299 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, which provides for liability even in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years.

In this regard, I want to warn the citizens of our district against thoughtless purchases of pyrotechnic products from dubious suppliers, in markets, and from individuals. These products must be purchased in specialized retail outlets that have all the necessary documents, including quality certificates for the products sold. The use of pyrotechnic products must be carried out in strict accordance with their instructions for use, which will allow you to protect yourself and others.

It should also be reminded that when in public places during the celebration, in crowded areas, it is necessary to observe personal safety, ensure the safety of personal property, and also monitor children to prevent emergencies and injuries.

Adherence to these simple rules will allow you to safely celebrate the New Year and maintain a festive mood not only for yourself but also for your loved ones.
