Safety in Every Home: Stove Heating

Safety in every home: stove heating

Violation of fire safety rules when operating stove heating is a constant cause of fires during the heating season.

In January-February, the republican campaign "Safety - to every home!" is held in Postavy district.

In houses with stove heating and baths, about 50% of all fires occur due to faulty stoves, pipes, and careless stoking.

To avoid trouble, it is necessary to follow basic fire safety rules.

Before the start of the heating season, it is necessary to check stoves, boilers, heat generators, and air heaters, other heating devices and systems that you use to heat your home.

Do not operate faulty stoves and other heating appliances - this can lead to tragedy.

Remember that the stoves and other heating appliances you use must have fire-resistant clearances (indentations) from combustible structures, as well as a pre-furnace sheet without burn-throughs and damage, measuring at least 0.5 x 0.7 m.

It is necessary to clean chimneys and stoves from soot not only before the start, but also throughout the entire heating season.

When operating stove heating, it is prohibited to:

• leave unattended stoves, as well as entrust their supervision to young children;

• place fuel, other combustible substances and materials on the pre-furnace sheet;

• use gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel and other flammable and combustible liquids for kindling stoves;

• ash and slag removed from fireboxes must be watered and removed to a specially designated safe place.

• in attics, all chimneys and walls through which smoke channels pass must be plastered and whitewashed.

Follow these rules, and may your home be warm and safe.

In case of emergency, call 101 or 112.
