Safety of elderly citizens

Elderly people require increased attention and care. And in matters of ensuring their safety, their children and grandchildren can help them.

Often, the homes where elderly citizens live are equipped with outdated electrical wiring. Also, many electrical appliances used, such as kettles, immersion heaters, microwave ovens, and heaters, are not always in good working order. By violating the rules of safe operation of electrical equipment, pensioners are unlikely to think that their actions can lead to serious consequences.

To avoid fires in the homes of your loved ones, special attention should be paid to electrical wiring and electrical equipment. Perform simple steps:

•   visually inspect the electrical wiring, check for areas with damaged insulation;

•   check automatic fuses, in case of faulty fuse links, be sure to replace them;

•   remember that wiring cannot be covered with wallpaper, and wires cannot be connected by twisting;

•   installation and repair of electrical wiring, connection of new electrical equipment (washing machines, electric water heaters, etc.) should be carried out only by specialist electricians;

•   observe the rules for using electrical appliances specified in their operating instructions;

•   check that all electrical appliances have working electrical cords;

•   tell your parents about the danger of leaving electrical appliances unattended;

•   if possible, install an autonomous fire alarm

These simple actions will not only give you confidence in the safety of your loved ones, but can also serve as an example for someone to follow. For your loved ones to live a long and happy life, your help and support are very important to them.
