The 'Attention - Children!' campaign starts in Belarus on May 25 and will last until June 5

To prevent child road traffic injuries and due to the end of the school year, the State Automobile Inspectorate (SAI) will traditionally hold a special comprehensive event "Attention - Children!" from May 25 to June 5.

The preventive campaign aims to draw public attention to the issue of ensuring children's safety on the road and to increase the level of responsibility of parents and drivers.

Law enforcement officers, educators, and parents will unite their efforts to ensure the safety of children. Children will be reminded of the basic rules of safe behavior, compliance with which will help avoid injuries on the roads during the summer holidays.

Special attention will be focused on preventive work with parents. Police officers will visit workplaces, explain to adults the causes and consequences of road accidents involving children, remind them of the rules for safe transportation of minors, responsibility for traffic violations, and the need for a personal example of correct and safe behavior on the road.

During the special events, SAI officers will conduct both preventive campaigns for children and parents, and raid activities to suppress traffic violations. Particular attention will be paid to drivers' compliance with speed limits, rules for crossing pedestrian crossings, and safe transportation of children.

To prevent injuries to minors, during the special events, vehicles must be driven with their low beam headlights on during daylight hours (clause 166.9 of the Traffic Regulations).

The State Automobile Inspectorate urges drivers to be extremely careful when driving near children's institutions, when crossing unregulated pedestrian crossings, public transport stops, and especially in courtyards.
